So… we’ve started a podcast and let’s talk about it! Next Gen Greats is moving into the podcasting space and I’m so excited about it because it feels like a natural progression to what we’ve been gradually building. Our first podcast is a series that puts artists front-and-centre, as they tell us the story of their body of work, and the journey, triumphs and tribulations that went into it. I grew up being so fascinated by the behind-the-scenes junkets and EPK’s that would come out in support of an album release or a movie. Understanding more of the journey that goes into these works of art, developed my appreciation not only for the projects that were being highlighted but the art-forms in general. So, this is a series that aims to bring a little bit of that for whoever is willing to listen and right from the source’s mouth. Our first guest on the show is one of my favourite musical acts this year repping Pretorian hip-hop, it’s Tyson S.T. Listen to the podcast on your preferred streaming site here.
Over the last year, Tyson S.T has gradually been building his momentum and credence as a musical act. Since dropping his incredibly personal EP, simply titled Syba, the rapper has been on a steady release cycle that has seen him release a collaborative project with Thato Saul, dole out consistent features for his peers like Miles, MyKey and Huey, as well as drop a two-track teaser all leading up to Snakes Favour Me: The Performance Album. Now, on a personal level, Snakes Favour Me ranks amongst some of the most entertaining projects I’ve experienced this year with songs like Blah Blah amongst my most played. The record shows a lot of what makes Teli compelling as a storyteller and versatile, from club bangers to more personal and revealing affair. Find out what the process was like for him making this album, the relationships he has with the people involved and so much more. Presenting Scaling The Snake’s Skin – The Tyson S.T Story, currently available on Apple Music, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon, Deezer, Captivate and more.
